Dissemination Activity for BEST Organisation
From June 26 to July 4, 2022, an exciting Dissemination Event took place in Istanbul, Turkey, hosted by the Yildiz Technical University (YTU). The event brought together 20 participants from various countries, all affiliated with BEST (Board of European Students of Technology) organization. The main focus of this event was to disseminate the results and findings of the RECOM project, particularly the educational materials developed through Intellectual Output 3 (IO3).
During the event, a C++ lecture was conducted, utilizing the initial versions of the RECOM educational materials. These materials were created as part of IO3, which aimed to develop a web and mobile-guided Virtual Programming Laboratory (VPL) integrated into a Learning Management System (LMS). The C++ lecture provided the participants with a comprehensive introduction to the C programming language, emphasizing the importance of structured design and portability.
The participants in the event had the unique opportunity to experience firsthand the RECOM educational materials and provide valuable feedback. Their experiences and feedback played a crucial role in improving the educational materials for their final versions. This iterative process of refinement ensured that the materials were well-suited to meet the needs of students and educators in online and hybrid programming courses.
The main objectives of the course were to equip the students with a strong foundation in operating systems and programming languages, with a specific focus on the fundamentals of the C Programming Language. Throughout the course, participants learned about operators, statements, and loops in C, and were encouraged to engage in problem-solving exercises and create algorithms.
The course encompassed a total of 26 working hours, equivalent to 1 ECTS credit. It consisted of 15 hours of lectures, providing theoretical knowledge and insights, along with 5 hours of group seminars or workshops to encourage interactive learning and discussions. Additionally, the participants had the opportunity to visit a company to gain practical exposure to real-world applications of the concepts learned. The course concluded with a 3-hour examination to assess the students' comprehension and proficiency.
The event not only provided participants with valuable knowledge and skills in C programming but also highlighted the importance of incorporating innovative educational materials and technology, such as the RECOM VPL integrated into the LMS platform. By leveraging feedback from the students and educators, the RECOM project aimed to enhance the overall learning experience and promote more engaging and effective online and hybrid programming courses in the future.
