Dissemination Activity at STE 2022 Conference
As part of the RECOM Project, a selection of the project's research and course design work was compiled and presented as an oral paper titled "Redesigning Computer Programming Courses in Engineering Education Using Innovative Hybrid Learning Modules" at the 3rd International Conference on Science and Technology Education (STE 2022). The conference took place on 6-7 October 2022, at the campus of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) in Porto, Portugal.
The presented paper at STE 2022 specifically highlighted the analysis and course design stages of the RECOM Project, with a particular emphasis on the innovative hybrid learning modules used to redesign computer programming courses in engineering education. The aim was to showcase the project's efforts in integrating technology-rich instructional approaches and formative assessment strategies to enhance the learning experience for students in programming courses.
The conference, chaired by Lucas F. M. da Silva and co-chaired by António Ferreira from the University of Porto, focused on education in science and technology. It provided an international platform for researchers, educators, and professionals to share and discuss their research findings, experiences, and perspectives on various teaching and learning issues related to science and technology education.
STE 2022, held biennially, attracted educators, researchers, and practitioners from around the world who shared their insights on science and technology epistemologies, learning mechanisms, systems, diversity, inclusiveness, and assessment methods.
Overall, the dissemination activity at the STE 2022 conference allowed the RECOM Project team to contribute to the wider scientific community's discussions on science and technology education while showcasing their innovative approaches to improving computer programming courses in engineering education through hybrid learning modules.
